UMESH KUMAR & ORS. v. STATE OF NCT OF DELHI & ANR.

Delhi High Court quashes 2018 FIR under Sections 498A, 406, 506, 377 IPC after complainant settles with petitioners

The High Court allowed the petition and quashed FIR No. 465/2018 of PS KNK Marg and all proceedings arising from it. It did so because the complainant had compromised the disputes, the State had no objection, and the court found it in the interest of justice not to put the parties through a full trial.

Why it matters: Shows the court quashing an FIR that includes Section 498A, 406, 506 and 377 IPC charges on the basis of a settlement, after speaking with the complainant.

CRL.M.C. 990/2026 Page 2 of 2 pages 3. The respondent no.2 is present through videoconferencing today and is identified by IO/SI Neha. I have spoken with respondent no.2 in Hindi and it is stated by her that she has compromised all disputes with the petitioners.

Marriage between petitioner no.1 and respondent no.2 stands already dissolved by way of decree of divorce. One female child was born out of the wedlock of petitioner no.1 and respondent no.2, who is in the care and custody of respondent no.2.
